Japan Hiking Tour

In the far northern waters of Hokkaido, Japan, there are two mysterious and beautiful islands: Rishiri Island and Rebun Island. These islands are mostly covered in ice and snow, making them suitable for tourism for only about three months each year.

​Rishiri Island, also known as the "Floating Island of Dreams," is centered around Mount Rishiri, a dormant volcano towering at 1,721 meters above sea level. The mountain has a nearly perfect symmetrical cone shape, resembling Mount Fuji on the sea. That's why it is also called "Rishiri Fuji." The mesmerizing and stunning landscape of Rishiri Island is depicted on the packaging of the famous Hokkaido souvenir "Shiroi Koibito" white chocolate, making Mount Rishiri one of the most recognizable mountains in Japan after Mount Fuji.

​Rebun Island, known as the "Floating Island of Flowers," has relatively flat and easily accessible mountain trails. However, its unique ecological environment is shaped by the cold sea winds. In summer, the island is covered with rare and beautiful alpine plants, including the famous Edelweiss, which is commonly found in the European Alps.

Sportiverse will take you to the northernmost sea, where you can climb Mount Rishiri, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, and stroll through the flower fields of Rebun Island. After activities, you can relax in hot springs and indulge in the freshest Rishiri Kombu seaweed and horse dung sea urchins, which are local delicacies.
